Elaine Perlov

Elaine Perlov's clothing offers a woman modern, sculptural options to construct a new outfit each day according to her latest need or whim. The Elaine Perlov client is a sleek urban dresser, a creative participant in the clothes, a woman who understands that "economy of form" can be the most evocative.

Elaine Perlov was born in New Jersey in 1969. After graduating magna cum laude from Amherst College in 1991 with a B.A. degree in English and Japanese Art History, she moved to Boston to begin her position at the Museum of Fine Arts as a curatorial intern in Japanese Art. While at the museum, Elaine invented (and copyrighted) the IMMORTAL COIL, a hat design made from hand-coiled, galvanized steel shaped to the head and wrapped in fabric. The immediate notoriety of the hats in the press, including her own appearance in Vogue (May 1993) launched the company with great success. Over the years, the focus of the company has shifted to women's clothing and accessories, and the creation of Elaine's own special East-meets-West minimalism.
